# Keyword ranking report template

A keyword ranking report template: tracked keywords with position changes, a ranking distribution, and the commentary that makes the movement mean something.

> **How to use it:** paste your rank tracker's export into the table, then write the commentary. Rankings are a leading indicator, so pair this report with traffic and leads rather than sending it on its own.

## Summary

- 14 of 40 tracked keywords rank in the top three, up from 11 in July.
- "small business bookkeeping software", the highest-volume target, moved from 9 to 6.
- Two keywords fell out of the top ten after a competitor published a comparison page. Our response is in the plan below.

## What moved and why

- **Gains** came from the refreshed bookkeeping page (new pricing table, customer quotes) and from internal links added from twelve guide articles.
- **Losses** on the two comparison terms coincide with a competitor launching a side-by-side comparison with pricing on 12 August. Our comparison pages still describe features in paragraphs.

## Next month

1. Rebuild both comparison pages as tables: price, invoice limits, payroll, integrations, support hours.
2. Add the 1099 filing deadline calendar to /1099 ahead of January demand.
3. Add eight new keywords around payroll to the tracker, since the payroll page launches in October.

Positions are desktop US results, averaged over the last seven days to smooth daily swings. Monthly searches come from the rank tracker's volume data. A ranking is not a visit: see the monthly SEO report for clicks and sign-ups.
